Our Early Years

At Ibstone CE Primary School we nurture, inspire and enable our community to grow academically, socially and spiritually. We enable our whole school community to become confident, courageous and resilient learners who have a lasting love of learning. We believe in developing the ‘whole’ child – socially, morally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.

We offer a curriculum that is individualised for our pupils, that takes their interests and strengths to broaden the valuable learning experiences that we provide. Our curriculum also recognises pupils prior learning from previous settings and their home experiences. Every pupil is a unique individual, we celebrate and welcome differences within our school community. Developing positive relationships with our pupils and their families is key in order for pupils to feel secure in their knowledge that the adults are there to support them in their learning.

Here at Ibstone we use the EYFS Statutory Framework (DfE Nov 2024) and Development Matters (DfE September 2023) to identify next steps for each pupil to deepen, challenge and extend their learning.

In the Early Years, play is a strong motivating factor in learning and it is positively encouraged within the whole school environment both indoors and outdoors. Quality interactions are a part of our quality first teaching which allows pupils to develop their language, creativity and thinking skills, increasing their confidence. Our safe, stimulating and inclusive environment encourages our pupils to explore, experiment, look, observe, touch, discuss and share their ideas freely.

We have developed our Curriculum Goals that we strive for each pupil in our EYFS to achieve by the end of their Reception year:
