At Ibstone CE Primary School we nurture, inspire and enable our community to grow academically, socially and spiritually. We enable our whole school community to become confident, courageous and resilient learners who have a lasting love of learning. Our curriculum is always developing to ensure that pupils have the best possible opportunities to live out our vision.
Our intake is 13 pupils per year, this means we have mixed aged classes. In order to ensure curriculum coverage, without repetition, we have created a rolling curriculum for each class. We have a two-year cycle (Cycle A and Cycle B) and you can find more information about curriculum below.
Our wider curriculum is inspired by Jonathan Lear's Guerrilla Education and it aims to develop both propositional knowledge and procedural knowledge; it encourages independence, curiosity and creativity; produces collaborators, innovators, leaders and, above all, it helps our pupils to understand what it means to be human. It enables our learners to learn in more depth and enables them to ask big questions that allow them to grow spiritually as well as academically.
Our three terms are ‘Discover’, ‘Explore’ and ‘Create’. During our ‘Discover’ term our focus is History. ‘Explore’ is Geography themed. ‘Create’ has an Art and DT focus.
All aspects of our curriculum are accessible to all pupils, irrespective of their background, gender, disability, religious or linguistic background and complies with our duties in the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014. We strive hard to meet the needs of those pupils with special education needs, those with disabilities, those who are more able and those pupils learning English as an additional language.
